The Sprint EVO 4G is the newest, most hyped phone from Sprint, at least until the Epic come out next month. My first impression holding the phone in person was “this thing is HUGE!”. However it’s important to note that I’ve been living with the Palm Pre for the last year – which is rather tiny by smartphone standards. The phone is fast and flash lite has been a pleasant surprise. The battery life is a bit lacking during my very curious first days. But considering the fact that I pick it up every five minutes to check if it can do XYZ, I think the real use battery life is much better than is portrayed online. The gigantic screen is a god-send for anyone used to a hardware keyboard. Typing in landscape mode is damn quick. The anticipated update to Froyo (Android 2.2) is scheduled to start rolling out next week – August 3rd. So we’ll see how that affects the common complaints of current users.
